edith's miniatuur-tuintjes en poppenhuis site
Summary of this website
Dear foreign visitor,
In the left-side navigation you will find three main subjects:
1. miniature-gardens and dolls house;
2. coats for teddybears, including a sewing pattern;
3. photographs of "the fifties", from my own private albums.
Ad 1:
Two dolls, named 'Teun' and 'To' figure on most pages as main characters, showing aspects of their life in garden, allotment and indoors.
I myself am a keen gardener and I love to be outside, so these subjects are my favourites on this website.
If possible, I make everything myself, mainly from cardboard, paper and fimo. I do not like buying things, but of course it is inevitable when it comes to glass, lightbulbs, etc. The scale is 1:12. All dolls have a metal wire frame, covered with cloth; heads and limbs of fimo.
On the page 'garden with pigeon-house' the pigeon-house is the centre-piece. The yard around it can vary, as the photograhs show.
The pages 'mini-garden 1' and 'mini-garden 2' both sit in old table drawers. I started mini-garden 2, June 2008, after a very heavy summer storm with hail stones... My own garden was ruined within the half hour. I started the mini-garden out of sheer frustration and it did help!
The top item on page 'rooms' is, unfortunately, a wrong example of a Dutch traditional female dress, as women used to wear in Spakenburg, a fishing village on the IJsselmeer. Apparently, the colourful top and blue apron will never be worn together! A blue apron is for mourning and should have a black or dark-coloured flower top to go with it, as was made clear to me by some traditional-dress insiders.
The Christmasroom on the same page, and especcially the awful dress right in front, needs a re-decoration, but so far I have had no courage to do so!
Ad 2:
This bear is 44cm long. The coat-pattern might also fit on slightly bigger bears or dolls.
Ad 3:
What is there to explain?! The small boy on his own, on the right side of the page, will be the photographer, many years later.
The top navigation-bar contains, among other items, a guest-book: whoever writes in it, will make me very happy!!
I hope you will enjoy my website.
Thank you for your visit!
